Earthship Portugal

one more step......

Hello all,

I'm trying to find out if there are any legal obstacles in Portugal if you want to build an earthship to live in. Buildinglicences are they obtained at city level or by district?
Can anybody give me some more information about how it works in Portugal?

Thanx...

I'm trying to find it too! Any progress?

As I understand first find a municipality that agrees on your plans.
If that's okay then buy land there and build.
I haven't heard of any obstacles using tires once you obtain a building licence.

Have you found your municipality? ;)
I understand Portugal to have some of the strictest planning regulations in Europe, HOWEVER if it is "ECO", it seems to be very much easier. We certainly hope so, because we share a similiar vision amigo, but all I've managed to discover so far is the same as you have said : find a Municipality that agrees. Have you had any joy? Any nearer your dream? And is it difficult to get a building licence?  -  Dave

Almost a year has passed, no progress whatsoever regarding municipalities in my case. I finally took the guts to put myself on the line and i will attack from another front! ;)

I'm finishing a yurt and going to live off grid in small plot that belongs to one of my family members.

Wish me luck! ;)

Good luck :-)
